A Resort Hopping Holiday, A Trip Report: Day 1 of the Summit and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

The Disney Earmarked Program’s Owner’s Summit lasts ALL DAY, every day of the Summit. So- breakfast was early, followed by presentations and meetings- and food, lots of food. Here are the highlights!

This year, once our sessions were over we were invited to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. We were fortunate enough to be able to purchase tickets for all of us and we headed over together as soon as I got back from my sessions.

I LOVE Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, sincerely. There are cookies and special drinks included all over the park as well as special overlays at Space Mountain, The Tomorrowland Speedway, Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor, and the Mad Tea Party. There was a dance party inside Cosmic Rays Starlight Café with elves and Christmas Characters and every now and again a Disney friend or two would pop up too.

Full disclosure- we rode Tomorrowland Speedway first, and as we were getting out of our cars- the rains came down with a vengeance. Mike and Mikey really wanted to check out the Mad Tea Party and Katie and I checked out the Dance Party in Cosmic Rays, hoping the rains would lighten up. It didn’t happen. After The Mad Tea Party we bought some ponchos and moved along- with barely anyone in the park! It’s important to note- there wasn’t any thunder and lightening- just lots and lots of rain. We headed to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Country Bears Jamboree, Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain (why not? We were already soaked!), Big Thunder Mountain, the Haunted Mansion and then… the rain STOPPED! This was around 10pm, so we could catch the end of Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show- and it was BEAUTIFUL! We took a spin on Space Mountain to experience the holiday overlay- SO COOL! Lots of lights ON moments and the holiday music was a sweet touch as well.

These are a few of our favorites from the night:

Around 11:30pm, we decided to head back to the Riviera. I had another early morning and everyone was very tired and very wet. But, we had the absolute BEST time. We laughed so much and so hard all night long. So, when it rains- keep going- the memories made are priceless! The cherry on our sundae tonight? As we left, we were each handed these pamphlets that apologized for the weather and they wanted to make it up to us with an exchange for an upcoming party, a 1 day park ticket, or credit towards another party tickets.

We had a full and filled with fun and new memories at this party and now we had tickets for another party… you will have to stay tuned to find out what we decided to do. 😉
