A Very MerryTime Vacation, A Family Trip Report- Disney’s Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay is GORGEOUS on any given day, but during the holidays- it is MAGICALLY GORGEOUS!

Once you step off the ship you will see a huge, decorated Christmas Tree greeting you and your loved ones.

There are photographers here to take family pictures as well….

As well as further down the walkway, with the ship in the background.

As we were walking, we bumped into 2 other families we were sharing our cabana with today- which was fun. We had been very fortunate enough to reserve the Grand Family Cabana #21, on the family beach. This cabana is exactly twice the size of the typical cabanas found on the family beach on Castaway Cay and accommodate up to 16 guests only. Pricing is $899 for 10 guests and then $50 for each additional guests up to the 16 guests limit for the cabana. Included with your cabana is bottled waters, canned sodas, fresh fruit, granola bars, chips, sunscreen, beach toys, snorkel rentals for everyone on the cabana reservation as well as water floats. Your cabana (on either the family or adult beach on Castaway Cay) will also come equipped with beach towels, mini fridge (this cabana had two), a closet with a safe (again, this cabana had two), a sound system, loungers, outdoor shower, hammock, beach chairs and loungers. We also were visited frequently by cabana staff (who also staff the concierge Lounge on board) and we also had a button to press if we needed anything (drink orders- Konk Koolers are a MUST when visiting the island, etc) who were super friendly and certainly made our group of 14 feel welcome.

I had very big plans today… TO DO NOTHING! I was exhausted and was so looking forward to hanging out with friends, watching our happy kids in the water, and soaking up as much Vitamin D as I could as once we returned to the Northeast- it would be a while until I could do it again.  The girls also rode bikes up and down the island and the boys enjoyed snorkeling on the private beach in front of our cabana. Just about everyone took a turn using a float as well. It was the most absolute perfect family beach day.

As lunch approached, we rang for a golf cart to take a few of us to Serenity Bay’s Buffet (Adult Beach) to pick up a few plates of food for everyone. We had hot dogs, burgers, steak, and chicken plus plenty of fruit and quinoa to hold everyone over.IMG_3788

We also popped open those bottles of Prosecco Tricia and I had in our staterooms to celebrate our last day on this magical vacation.IMG_3790 IMG_3795 IMG_3798 IMG_3799

As 3:30pm approached, our cabana hosts arrived letting us know it was time to start heading back on board. Time certainly flew by today with the ocean breeze… I hated to leave this amazing view.

The golf carts took us to the tram and the tram took us back to our ship… such a beautiful island, with new memories made. Just a priceless day for all of us.

Not gonna lie, of all of the times we have traveled- this is certainly one of our best family vacation days.

If you ever have a chance to visit Castaway Cay, I cannot recommend it enough. If you are ever fortunate enough to be able to spend your Castaway Cay day with a cabana- it is absolutely worth every penny.

Now I can only dream of by Konk Koolers (blended 3 oz. Malibu or Parrot Bay Light Rum, 3 oz. Cruzan Black Strap Dark Rum,  4 oz. Orange Juice, 8 oz. Coco Casa Cream of Coconut, 6 oz. Welches Passion Fruit Juice Concentrate with 3 oz. Ice per drink) once on board- but now we were headed to a very special dinner inside Animator’s Palate tonight!
