Awaken Summer Preview Event, Day 3- WDW Magic Kingdom Extra Magic Hours & Plaza Restaurant

After some much needed power naps in our room at Animal Kingdom Lodge, we were off to the Magic Kingdom for the night. We had a 7:30pm reservation at the Plaza, right on Main Street, and then our Fast Passes begun. Tonight the Magic Kingdom is also open an additional 2 hours for Extra Magic Hours (only for WDW Resort guests), we were hoping to make it- we haven’t been able to yet as our kids were never old enough to make it up that late.

The Plaza was somewhere Mike and I took our oldest daughter, Jacqueline, on her first trip way back in September 2001. We haven’t been back since. No real reason why, but we were really excited to return.

I must mention, my son has a nut allergy. When we dined at Via Napoli earlier, a manager came out after we ordered and let us know that there could be some cross contamination with our calamari we ordered and it wouldn’t be safe for Mikey to eat. Here, Mikey got a very special menu- which in turn made him feel special too.

We promptly ordered and our dinner was served pretty quickly too… So fast, Mikey ate his chicken tenders and fries before I could get a picture!

Katie ordered the Strawberry Chicken Salad:

Jacqueline and I both ordered cheeseburgers:

And Mike had a club sandwich:

We were too full for dessert, and excited to start our evening.

Where to first? The Peoplemover is a great way to get the feel of Tomorrowland!

Then the girls and I headed to The Carousel of Progress while Mike and Mikey checked out Stitch’s Great Escape.

Then it was off to Space Mountain!

Then it was time for Wishes… we had to stop and watch. Again, I feel so blessed my family enjoys this as much as I do.

Our last Fast Pass (we missed an earlier one for Big Thunder Mountain) was for the Tomorrowland Speedway. From there we went to The Barnstormer, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid, Mickey’s Philharmagic, and It’s A Small World where we were in for some extra magic!

By now Extra Magic Hours had begun and we headed straight for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and it took us longer to walk the standby line than we waited to board the attraction…

Then we strolled over to the Haunted Mansion, with no wait and some more extra magic…

(It is blurry but that is a ghost holding a picture of my daughters, while standing on tombstones with their first names on them, with another ghost holding a sign that said NY here we come!)

Then we went to ride Big Thunder Mountain- TWICE, because there wasn’t a wait at all. Then we strolled over to Pirates of the Caribbean- again, with no wait. But, now we were exhausted. Thirteen rides plus dinner and Wishes in 5 in a half hours is more than a great night!

As we walked down Main Street USA it was time for pictures… as the Castle changed colors to kiss us all goodnight…
