We would like to thank one of Castle Dreams Travel’s Travel Planners, Megan Byrd, for this fabulous review of Be Our Guest’s Quick Service Lunch review!
It’s now even easier to be a lunch guest at Be Our Guest restaurant in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Beginning on Feb 25, 2015, guests were able to make advanced dining reservations for the quick-service lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant. I had the pleasure of testing out this new service recently. I stopped by to find out the procedure to see if those with reservations had a special entrance, etc… I found out that you should show up for your reservation about 5 minutes early at the same entrance, but the entrance is now divided into 2 lines one for those with reservations and one for those without. If you have a reservation, you let the cast member with the magic mirror (tablet) know and they will scan your magic band and get you checked in. At this point, they provide you a menu for you to make your decision as you head to the cashier, because by the time you walk down the entrance path, you will be at the cashier and they will need to know your order. (This is assuming that you have not pre-ordered your lunch online – which is another available option, but one that I have not yet tested.)
At this point, you order and pay the cashier and then take your receipt to any empty table in the restaurant. For me, this process was seamless and took about 3 minutes between check-in and finding a seat. Within 2 more minutes, I was greeted at my table by a cast member who asked to see my receipt. She logged where I was sitting so that the cast member who would deliver my food knew where to bring it. About 3 minutes later, my food was delivered to my table in a butler’s cart – very fitting of dining in a castle, but not so typical of a quick service meal which is why I love this restaurant so much – a quick service meal that feels almost like a table-service meal! The server verified my receipt one more time (to ensure I was receiving the correct meal – something that for me is just a courtesy – but for someone with any type of food allergy would be critical!) The whole process took about 8 minutes from the time I checked in to the time I was enjoying my lunch.
The most difficult part of the process seems likely to be getting the reservation! With the popularity of this particular restaurant, the reservations will book up quickly. So plan to book as soon as you are able (180 days prior to arrival for resort guests or 180 days prior to the reservation day for those guests staying off property.)
I had a great lunch and in record speed (had I needed to wait in line with no reservation today it could have taken half an hour or more today.) I am super excited that making advanced dining reservations is now an available option for this quick-service meal, and am hopeful if this test goes well other very popular quick-service venues may follow suit.
