Can Adults really have FUN on a Disney vacation? Part Seven

The last full day of any Disney Cruise Line Cruise in the Caribbean is soooo bittersweet. This is the day you visit Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.  Almost everyone who visits this island wishes there was some way to stay longer, but alas- all aboard is usually around 4:30pm. My suggestion- get off the ship as soon as you can to enjoy every minute of it!

I very much intended to heed that advice, and even jog the Castaway Cay 5K . But, I had only packed my black Converse Chuck Taylors. Not ideal running sneakers. My suite mate, Cathy, got up and was all set to run! She was able to be one of the very first off the ship before 9am!

What is the Castaway Cay 5K? It is a 5K that loops around the island 4 times- at the end all participants – 10 years old and up- who finish receive a medal. Scuttles Cove is open for participants who are traveling with children. If you are interested in signing up for the Castaway Cay 5K (it is FREE) during your sailing, watch for information in the Navigator. Generally, it will be that you need to sign up for it at Port Adventures. It’s getting more and more popular, so sign up early!

So proud of Cathy for finishing, earning her medal, after feeling so terrible the night before!

5 6 So… we (Tricia, Sandy, Jen, Dolo, and I) got off the ship as soon as we could and headed right to our cabana on Serenity Bay (adults only section of the island). The cabana and the beach were as beautiful as we had hoped…

Shortly after getting settled, Cathy arrived with the rest of our cabana mates (each cabana holds 10) Holly, Juanita, Paige, and Jan.

Dolo, Jen, Sandy, and I decided to hit the shops on the island and ride the bike trails for a bit. Bicycle rentals are included with your cabana rental.  We had a ton of fun popping in and out of the ships and riding along, singing old songs, as if no one heard us. The highlight was stopping and climbing up the tower for the view…

1 2 3We got back and decided it was time for lunch! For those 18 years old and older- the buffet at Serenity Bay is a nice treat, a bit different from Cookies on the Family Beach:

Once they passed, we all relocated to the beach where we swam and were lazy in lounge chairs. A picture perfect beach day! Somehow it always is on Castaway Cay!

Holly even found a starfish!

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. But not without a selfie with Olaf before heading back on board…
