Disney Cruise Line has confirmed that there will be an announcement the end of this month, but they are NOT announcing 2 new ships because they are focusing on their current fleet of 4 ships and not adding to them at this time.
It has been long rumored that the Magic and the Wonder will be undergoing extensive dry dock upgrades over the next 2 years. After the release of the Dream and Fantasy, the two “classic ships” have been in a dire need of some upgrades.
What upgrades to expect? We would assume the addition of magical portholes and enchanted art that are found on the newer ships would be included in any upgrade. There is also rumors of the buffet restaurants on board getting upgraded as well because the “flow” in Cabanas (the buffet on the newer ships) works better for passengers. When we toured the Magic last summer and cruised up to Canada on her we noticed she was beginning to look a bit tired, especially in comparison to the newer ships. Bathroom upgrades, kids’ club spaces, bedding upgrades, etc could all be a part of the announcement on April 26th.
