Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration, Day 1

Oh Disneyland, I have never met you before this week- but over the course of these past few nights have fallen in love with you.

Let me explain…

I arrived on Tuesday, May 19th to the Disneyland Hotel.

My room wasn’t ready… I was a a smidge panicked because I had a business meeting in less than an hour of my arrival, but decided to take a deep breath, hand my bags to the bellmen, and grab some lunch. But where to go?

I found Tangaroa Terrace and decided to give it a try. I ordered the 1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger with Sweet Potato Fries and a Diet Coke.

I called Mike and the kids at home and then was off to my meeting. Of course, as soon as I walked in, I got a text my room was ready. Once the meeting was over, I hurried up to the 6th floor to check it out…

Then it was off to a reception in the Rose Court Garden of the hotel. Here are typically where brides and grooms can say their vows or renew their vows inside an intimate garden complete with a white gazebo. It was a little easier here to sit and get to know everyone a bit better and I will admit to being one of the last few to leave the area once the reception was officially over.

We even spotted a few hidden Mickey’s in the Rose Garden!6

From there I was exhausted. At that point it was only 8:30pm California time, but my NY clock was telling me it was 11:30pm and I woke up at 3:45am. I strolled the resort grounds a bit and headed back up to my room. And to my surprise, was able to catch a fireworks show from my window…
