Disneyland’s Diamond Celebration, Day 3; part 1- the parks and Trader Sam’s

Woke up a bit later than usual, but still early. Breakfast meeting at 8am in The Disneyland Hotel’s Grand Ballroom… and it IS grand!1 2 3Here we learned more about all of the Disney Destinations, highlighting Disneyland and their Diamond celebration. Kicking off the following day is a text to win sweepstakes, which is really neat- you can win some really magical items including authentic diamonds or a crystal glass slipper with a pave diamond and topaz pendant! After breakfast we were set free and we headed to the parks! Check out the new tickets released this week with the Diamond Celebration theme!

First up?

This was a bit more intense than I expected, but I survived! Single Rider Line certainly helps with California Screamin’.  We grabbed also a Fast Pass for Radiator Springs Racers for later in the day and then hopped over to Disneyland theme park…

Next up was the Matterhorn Bobsleds! These just reopened today as a preview for those of us with credentials, and it was awesome! So awesome, we rode it twice!

2 3Helpful hint, when you enter- go to the line on your left- the line on your right is a little less intense and you don’t quite catch the Yeti as often… here is the view from the right:

From there we headed to The Haunted Mansion and used our nifty passes to jump on the Fast Pass line- which wasn’t really needed. This ride is a high capacity ride, so a lot of people can ride at once- so the line is always moving. Such a great ride- this version is longer (and then seemingly better) than the Walt Disney World version…

Next up was Pirates of the Caribbean. I have to say as a lover of the Walt Disney World attraction, this one was longer… and better (again). I didn’t even mind getting stuck for a few minutes!

And we even saw Captain Jack Sparrow a few times!

Now we were hungry & finding someplace to eat wasn’t exactly easy. We settled on River Belle Terrace. I ordered the River Belle’s Sirloin & Cheddar Sandwich which is Sliced, Roasted Sirloin topped with Sautéed Bell Peppers and Onions, Cheddar Cheese and Horseradish Mayonnaise on an Onion Roll served with Crisp Coleslaw and Baked Beans. To be honest, I didn’t like it.

From there we went to Indiana Jones Adventure, but it was closed. So we decided to head back to The Disneyland Hotel to freshen up and met back at Trader Sam’s for a drink before heading back to California Adventure.
