DisneyMania- A Trip Report, the planning shakeup!

As I have already reported, we are headed down THIS WEEK for Twirl Mania in Walt Disney World. We have quickly made all of our plans once we knew we were attending- dining reservations, Fast Passes, etc all cohesive with the girls obligations to their teams. In true Disney fashion, there was a shakeup last week with our plans…

First, we were informed the World Record breaking routine had been cancelled and rescheduled for next year (does this mean we go again in 2018?). Girls were really bummed- but they are both twirling in 2 routines (1 each individually and another together) during the event and marching down Main Street USA- so they aren’t totally disappointed.

Then, this past Thursday morning Dining Packages and Fast Passes were released for the official premiere of Rivers of Light- which will take place while we are there. Last year, I attended the Awaken Summer event in Walt Disney World and was able to see the preview of what they had hoped would open in the summer- but ultimately didn’t. Now, I had to work this into our plans. As fate would have it, I was able to secure a dinner package for all 12 of us at Tusker House. This change would be a minor tweak and would leave our morning Epcot Fast Passes intact and, in essence, give us a 4th Fast Pass for the first night of Rivers of Light in Animal Kingdom.

As it stands now, assuming nothing new is announced again… we arrive early on our first day. We will probably head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios after eating some lunch at Pop’s Food Court after we check in. We have Fast Passes for Epcot around 4:30 for our now group of 12 and dinner inside La Hacienda de Angel at 7:30 in hopes to see Illuminations from our dinner table. We were able to do this a few years back and it was just amazing!

The next day, we have 3 Fast Passes in Epcot that morning, then we get to wander around and explore the Inaugural Festival of the Arts–  the art nerd in me is so excited to see it! Later that day we hop over to Animal Kingdom for our early character dinner inside Tusker House and the official premiere of Rivers of Light.

The girls have practice after breakfast that following day, pretty much, up until they march on Main Street USA inside the Magic Kingdom. Mikey and I were talking about heading over to the Magic Kingdom and trying Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom before the parade. After the parade, we have 3 Fast Passes and dinner at Crystal Palace. We are hoping to catch Wishes before heading back to Pop for the night.

On Team Competition Day, we camp out at ESPN Wide World of Sports all day, basically.

The next day we check out of Pop and then head to the Magic Kingdom for a late breakfast inside Be Our Guest. We have 3 Fast Passes for a few classics and then our family plans to leave the Magic Kingdom to check into our home for the next 20 hours – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. We are expecting pretty high temperatures according to the weather forecasts, so we are welcoming some downtime at one of the Grand Floridian’s pools that afternoon! We have dinner reservations inside the Magic Kingdom’s Tony’s Town Square at 8:15pm- which is late, but it is our family’s last chance to see Wishes together at 8pm, as it was also announced this week they will retire one of our family’s favorites in May to make way for the new “Happily Ever After” projection and fireworks show.

On our last day, we check out of the Grand Floridian and head back over to the Magic Kingdom for 3 last Fast Passes before heading on Magical Express back to Orlando International Airport.

Now, it’s time to start packing!
