DisneyMania- A Trip Report, the planning…

In my 28 years visiting Walt Disney World- next month’s trip will be a first for me. A trip with a sports team to compete in ESPN’s Wide World of Sports!

Let me explain, my daughters’ twirl organization has decided to take part in TwirlMania this year. The girls are more than thrilled- we are spending 4 nights with their teams at Pop Century Resort (another first for us), touring the parks, marching down Main Street USA on Saturday, and then competing on Sunday.

We have made quite a few plans already, as we arrive early that Thursday. We will probably head to Animal Kingdom after eating some lunch at Pop’s Food Court after we check in. We have Fast Passes for Epcot around 4:30 for our now group of 12 (Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, then some head to Test Track and others to Frozen) and dinner inside La Hacienda de Angel at 7:30 in hopes to see Illuminations from our dinner table.

On Friday we have an early breakfast inside Epcot’s Garden Grill for 12, 3 Fast Passes after breakfast (Living with the Land, Soarin, Journey into Imagination), then we get to wander around and explore the Inaugural Festival of the Arts–  the art nerd in me is so excited to see it! Later that day we hop over to Hollywood Studios together for a very early dinner at the Sci Fi  for all 12 of us then stay through Fantasmic, Star Wars: A Galatic Spectacular, and then Extra Magic Hours until 10pm.

On Saturday the girls have practice, pretty much, up until they march on Main Street USA inside the Magic Kingdom. Mikey and I were talking about heading over to the Magic Kingdom and trying Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom before the parade. After the parade, we have 3 Fast Passes (Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train) and dinner at Crystal Palace. We are hoping to catch Wishes before heading back to Pop for the night.

On Sunday, we camp out at ESPN Wide World of Sports all day, basically. A full day of competition and then a chance to break a world record!

The next day we check out of Pop and then head to the Magic Kingdom for a late breakfast inside Be Our Guest. We have 3 Fast Passes for a few classics (Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Jungle Cruise) and then our family plans to leave the Magic Kingdom to check into our home for the next 20 hours – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. After we are settled, we head to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in hopes to ride Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris at night, watch the Tree of Life awaken, and have dinner inside Tiffins.

Our last day, we check out of the Grand Floridian and head back over to the Magic Kingdom for 3 last Fast Passes (Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train again) before heading on Magical Express back to Orlando International Airport.

It will be a whirlwind 5 nights, but I am not sure the girls have ever been so excited to go. Marching down Main Street USA is something none of us ever dared to dream of- and here is their chance…

(Proud Mom Brag- this is the two of them after both of their teams won the NY State Championships last year and they both won the Smile Award from their organization – represented by the blue tiaras!)
