Taking the Time to Smell the Flowers, A Trip Report- Pre Planning

I know, I know we just took a quick trip in January. Full disclosure, I am a travel planner and travel planners need to travel to be able to effectively plan. We haven’t been to Walt Disney World in the Spring since 2016, and that was a pretty intense business trip for me and this will be far more relaxed. We have friends we are meeting there and are really looking forward to some well deserved time strolling through Epcot’s World Showcase and relaxing by the pool.

So our plans…

It’s another 3 night trip, but we are changing from our go-to, family favorite resort to one closer to all of the action in Epcot. We chose to stay in the Yacht Club for a few reasons. We have never actually stayed there, it is within walking distance to Epcot, and it has an amazing pool area for some well- deserved relaxation. The Yacht Club has recently refurbished their rooms which we are really looking forward to checking out first hand. We chose not to stay Club Level as we will be spending a TON of time in the parks and don’t need the benefit of the extra Fast Passes available to Club Level guests as we just experienced all of that in January. We did add the dining plan and, of course, Memory Maker.

So… now what?

We have our dining reservations already set. On our arrival day we are heading to Magic Kingdom and dinner inside Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh and Friends. Dinner should finish up just in time to watch Happily Ever After and then we will likely head to the Contemporary Resort to pick up a cab/Lyft/Uber back to Yacht Club. It’s just quicker.

The next day our kids might want to head in Animal Kingdom for the Extra Magic Hours (it’s awesome when they get old enough and mature enough to do that!) while Mike and I enjoy a relaxing morning before heading into Epcot for the International Flower and Garden Festival. We have already started making lists of what we want see and taste before our dinner inside Rose and Crown at 7pm- perfect for watching Illuminations.

The next day we actually have rented a poolside cabana at the Yacht Club’s Stormalong Bay from 10am-2pm. These are brand new- just welcoming their first guests this coming weekend. Our cabana amenities include:

  • Dedicated Cast Member providing service to the cabanas
  • Cocktail service
  • Ceiling fan
  • Padded furniture, including chairs and couch
  • Television with cable access
  • Charging outlet/USB
  • Mini refrigerator stocked with complimentary sodas and water
  • Fruit basket
  • Plush towels
  • Complimentary sunscreen/ skincare products
  • Cabinet safe

Once our pool/cabana time is over we can all go shower and get ready to head into Disney’s Hollywood Studios (also closeby) for our dinner reservations at Hollywood and Vine. We are hoping to ride Slinky Dog since it was our family’s favorite during our January trip. There are Extra Magic Hours in Hollywood Studios today from 8-9am- if we wake up early enough, we can ride then.

The next day we check out and then head to an early lunch inside Via Napoli, another family favorite, before heading home.

Do you have your Spring getaway planned yet?
