So, you are ready to upgrade your Walt Disney World vacation to a deluxe hotel- we already covered the “Lodges” of Walt Disney World which are a great choice for families of 4 (sorry, their standard rooms do not sleep more than 4 guests). But what of you are traveling with a family of 5 ? What if you want extra space and to be closer to the parks? Now which resort to choose? Again, each family’s likes and dislikes are different as are their needs and wants for their perfect Walt Disney World vacation, that said- I asked Castle Dreams Travel agents which they preferred and this one was another tough one…
But the Polynesian Village Resort came out ahead! The guest rooms are spectacular, food is incredible, Trader Sams, Dole Whips, so much to do and the view of Wishes from the beach is priceless. I was just there in August, and couldn’t agree more. Their lobby rehab is incredible. Disney Vacation Club also has new studio villas and bungalows available to their members and for guests too.
Their next recommendations were the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. The Yacht Club tends to be less “busy” and appeals to couples and older families traveling. The Beach Club tends to have more families with younger kids and seems to have a more relaxed feel. The Yacht Club rooms all have full balconies which is not the case at The Beach Club, but there you are closer to Epcot’s World Showcase entrance. Both resorts share the amazing Stormalong Bay- a 3 acre, sand bottomed pool which is just spectacular. There are also Disney Vacation Club villa options in bot resorts that can sleep up to 8 people in 1 villa.
Their next recommendation was The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. It’s grounds are small but with five story buildings, yet it doesn’t feel crowded. In the early morning a Castle Dreams Travel planner opened her balcony door (she had a lagoon view) and could hear the Magic Kingdom’s entrance music! The resort is calm and relaxing and yet you are so close to all the fun! Multiple transportation options, fantastic dining, activities, and shopping are all magical reasons to stay at The Grand! This resort also has DVC villa options that can sleep up to 9 guests.
